Georg Jensen Sterling Silver King Mocha Mask No 035. Measures 9,8 cm

Designed in 1915 by Johan Rohde (1856 – 1935).

Johan Rohde was a graphic artist, painter, architect, designer and critic. In the 1880s, Rohde was an important artist in Germany and Denmark. He challenged the traditional ways of teaching at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and was a leader in the creation of the Free Exhibition, which aimed to show works by artists whose work was not accepted.

He designed objects for everyday life – furniture, silverware and corpus for his own home.

Rohde and Georg Jensen first met when Rohde commissioned Jensen to execute one of his corpus designs. As this was successful, they decided to continue working together. They worked together for many years after.
